Shinsengumi Furusato Museum
Opened in 2005 and operated by the Government, Shinsengumi Furusato History Museum has a permanent exhibition gallery featuring the history of the squad in relation to Hino City, including but not limited to Koshu Kaido, Tennen Rishin-ryū and Hachioji sennin doshin. Visitors are welcome to experience in practising the Tennen Rishin-ryū through detailed description with a wooden sword with weight equivalent to that of a real metal katana. In addition they can dress up in Shinsengumi outfit and take photograph with a replica katana in front of a backdrop of the Shinsengumi tonsho. The Museum also has a special exhibition gallery for seasonal display.
In the lobby of the Museum, there is a portrait of Hijikata Toshizō of a size of 2.7 metres high and 1.8 metres wide. It was produced with one hundred ninety-eight toothpicks by around eighty students from Tokyo Metropolitan Hino High School in 2014 in honour of his dedication and perseverance.
